چکیده

In this work we study the propagation of exciton–polaritons (bulk and surface modes) in a binary superlattice ABAB., truncated at zZ0, where z is defined as the growth axis. Here A is the spatially dispersive medium, which alternates with a common dielectric medium B (sapphire-Al2O3). The excitonic medium (A) is modelled by a semiconductor from the nitride’s family (III–V semiconductor) that has, as a main characteristic, a wide-direct gap. The exciton-polariton spectrum is determined, in both s and p-polarization, by using standard electromagnetic boundary conditions, together with an additional boundary condition (ABC) for the Wannier–Mott excitons, employing a transfer-matrix formalism to simplify the algebra. The dispersion relation shows a bottleneck profile for the superlattice modes, whose behavior is similar to those found in the bulk crystal. Furthermore, interesting properties are revealed from the ABC as well as from different ratios of the thickness of the two superlattices alternating materials. q 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Wide Bandgap Semiconductor Nanostructures

Group III-nitrides have been considered a promising choice for the realization of optoelectronic devices since 1970. Since the first demonstration of the high-brightness blue lightemitting diodes (LEDs) by Shuji Nakamura and coworkers, the fabrication of highly efficient white LEDs has passed successful developments. A serious physical issue still remained, which prevents their use for high pow...

Resonance perfect absorption by exciting hyperbolic phonon polaritons in 1D hBN gratings.

Natural materials with hyperbolic responses can confine light with well-defined propagation directions inside the micro/nanostructure. Here we theoretically demonstrate that strong resonance absorption can be achieved in one-dimensional gratings made of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) due to hyperbolic phonon polaritons. The radiative properties of both trapezoidal and square resonators are calcu...

Quantum Many-Body Simulation using Cavity Coupled Monolayer Excitons

We propose an architecture for quantum simulation of strongly interacting bosons using monolayer excitons in MoS2 quantum dots. The strongly coupled monolayer exciton and cavity photon form polaritons between which the interaction reaches 1 ∼ 10 meV—more than one order of magnitude higher than the state-of-art value. We discuss Mott transition in a chain of coupled cavities driven by photon blo...

Here, we report a theoretical detailed study of Vacuum Rabi Splitting (VRS) in the system of Nitride Single Quantum Well (SQW) within a semiconductor microcavity. Distributed Bragg Reflectors (DBRs) containing ZnTe/ZnSe multilayers including GaAs microcavity and  ( SQW at the center of microcavity, has been considered. Upper and lower exciton-polariton branches obtaine...
